Daniel Farke shares who he wanted to take Leeds United penalty v Stoke instead of Patrick Bamford
Daniel Farke has revealed he would have wanted Joel Piroe to take the Leeds United penalty against Stoke City on Wednesday (25 October).
Speaking in his post-match press conference on Wednesday (via The Athletic), the Whites boss said the Dutchman was the designated penalty taker, but after he was subbed off earlier in the second half, the 30-year-old stepped up and missed from the spot.
After scoring just five of his 10 penalties for the West Yorkshire club, the German plans to speak with the forward on Thursday (26 October) after the 1-0 defeat at the bet365 Stadium.

Changing of the guard
It’s pretty clear that Bamford is no longer the main forward at Leeds and he certainly shouldn’t be taking any penalties in the future.
His record from the spot is pretty poor for someone of his quality and he’s shown he can’t be relied upon to do the business from 12 yards for his side.
It’s no surprise that Farke would have liked Piroe to take the penalty given his calm and composed nature in the penalty area, but that wasn’t an option after he was substituted earlier on in the second half.

Farke is now going to have to try and lift Bamford’s spirits, though, because if anything happens to Piroe or Georginio Rutter, then his role will increase in the side.
The Whites will now be looking to learn from their mistakes against Stoke as they prepare for a big game at home to Huddersfield Town on Saturday (28 October).
