Daniel Farke shares when Ethan Ampadu could return from injury for Leeds
Ethan Ampadu was absent from Leeds United’s clash against Sheffield United with a fresh timeline provided ahead of his return.
Leeds secured an emphatic 3-1 victory against Sheffield United last time out, gaining a huge advantage in the promotion race, though they had to do it without Ampadu.
The Welshman was a surprise omission from the Leeds squad, having featured just seven days earlier in another massive win against Sunderland.
Ampadu has been a key figure for Leeds when he has played, although injuries have limited him to just 21 appearances this season, 18 of which he was named in the starting 11 for, with another spell on the sidelines to follow.

Ampadu injury timeline emerges from Thorp Arch
Leeds look destined for a return to the Premier League, and Ampadu has been a real figure of importance behind that push not only with his ability, but also with his leadership and versatility.
However, the Peacocks will have to make do without him again with Farke revealing that the Welshman is set for rehab that will rule him out of action for up to six weeks.
In quotes reported by Beren Cross (27 February), the German said: “A knee injury. Cartilage issue. Complicated. Surgery would have meant Ampadu out for the season. Decided to go conservative route. Good chance rehab will be successful, but still means he will be out for four to six weeks.”
Championship 2024/25 | Appearances | Passes (Accuracy) | Tackles won | Duels won |
Ethan Ampadu | 21 | 1278 (89.3%) | 21 | 104 |
As it stands, the Whites have a healthy five point advantage over Sheffield United who still have Burnley to play, meaning the absence of Ampadu isn’t likely to cause too much of a blow.
With 12 games remaining, Farke’s men just need to maintain their consistency for the time being before Ampadu returns to have an impact in the final run-in.

Leeds are within touching distance of Premier League football
Despite several injury concerns and a lack of transfer business in the winter, Leeds can almost smell the prospect of Premier League football and it seems like only a matter of time until their credentials are confirmed.
Farke deserves a lot of credit for the way he has handled this season as do the entire playing squad who have all contributed through their own means.
However, until that promotion is confirmed, the season is far from over and Leeds need to keep their head down and keep working until that day arrives.
