Daniel Farke shares timeline for Leeds United to make new free agent signing
Daniel Farke has admitted that Leeds United will make a decision in the next two weeks about bringing in a free agent.
The Whites are looking to add depth to their engine room after the injuries to Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev in recent weeks.
However, while speaking to the media on Wednesday (16 October), in quotes reported by Leeds Live, the German manager was adamant that any new signing would be imminent and that Leeds would not wait until November to get a deal over the line.
“It won’t last more weeks. It will not be end of November. It would be quickly, if at all,” Farke said.
“Perhaps candidates are already working on their fitness level behind closed doors. We do our homework. It will just be there when a deal would make sense.
“We spoke about October challenges. It’s a unique case for us. We don’t have to be too strict. Due to the injuries, we have to be professional and check it.
“We don’t need just a good footballer, we need to know that the player is convinced of their challenge and role here. It has to be a sensitive deal. We cannot spend a fortune on such a deal. A few boxes have to be ticked.
“We’re Not too far from a decision. We want to lead this club in a sustainable way. In the next two weeks or not at all,” the German added.
Daniel Farke needs reinforcements at Leeds United
Leeds have lost their first-choice defensive midfielder in Ampadu while fellow first-team regular Gruev has also been sidelined for the foreseeable future.
As things stand, Joe Rothwell and Ao Tanaka are the only experienced options Farke can count on in the middle of the park, with teenager Charlie Crew also available.

While the English and Japanese duo have done well in recent weeks, another potential injury could leave the German manager scratching his head.
Crew is one of the youngsters Farke has trusted to make the matchday squads in recent weeks; however, the Whites need to carefully manage his introduction to the fold.
Cheikhou Kouyate was one of the names touted to make his way to Elland Road, but the midfielder has reportedly failed his medical [GIVEMESPORT].
It remains to be seen who Leeds will turn to now to reinforce their engine room, but one thing is clear: the club have to sign someone if they are ambitious.
In other Leeds United news, Daniel Farke will be nervous as Ao Tanaka decision made away from Leeds United.
