Daniel Farke shares how many games Junior Firpo will miss in Leeds United blow
Junior Firpo will be ruled out for the next seven Leeds United league games with a “serious muscle injury”, Daniel Farke has confirmed.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of facing Middlesbrough (9 December), Farke said that the club’s doctors expect Firpo to be out for the next “four to six weeks” with his hamstring issue.
Firpo pulled up 20 minutes into his 100th United appearance against Derby County on Saturday (7 December) and was soon withdrawn by Farke, with substitute left-back Max Wober coming on to score in the 2-0 win.
Farke said: “Sadly, bad news with Junior Firpo – it’s a serious muscle injury in his hamstring.
“The doctors expect him to be out for four to six weeks, that means he will definitely be out over the festive period.
“So in the next upcoming seven league games, he won’t be in contention – so for that, definitely bad news.”
Leeds United suffer brand new Junior Firpo injury blow
No matter how much forward Firpo makes at Elland Road, injuries are seemingly never far behind, with the 28-year-old’s hamstring problem the latest in a series of setbacks for Farke’s number three.
Since first pitching up in LS11 in the summer of 2021, Firpo’s United career has constantly been blighted with periods on the sidelines, preventing him from putting together prolonged runs of good form.

While this was frequently the case in the Premier League, 2024 had been a largely unscathed year for the Dominican Republic international, nailing down a permanent spot as the Whites’ starting left-back.
That continued until last month, when Firpo picked up a retrospective FA ban following an incident in the Peacocks’ 1-0 loss at Millwall, and he’s been in and out of the side since with Sam Byram deputising.
But with Firpo now set to miss the busiest period of the season, the onus is on Byram and particularly Wober to stake their claims and step up to the mantle in the absence of Farke’s preferred left-back.
