Daniel Farke shares Dan James injury update ahead of Leeds United clash at Millwall

Dan James has been back in training for Leeds United this week in a fitness boost ahead of Saturday’s (16 September) trip to Millwall, Daniel Farke has confirmed.

The rapid winger has not featured for the Whites since the 1-1 draw against West Brom on August 18 due to an adductor injury.

However, while Patrick Bamford and Junior Firpo remain out and Djed Spence is a huge doubt for the visit to the Den, James was among those back training this week alongside Liam Cooper and Sam Byram.

Addressing the media, in quotes reported by LeedsLive, Farke said: “Daniel James back the whole week.”

A welcome boost

Dan James spent last season out on loan at Fulham and there was a time when maybe it was not even a foregone conclusion that he would remain a part of the long-term vision at Elland Road.

But, at this level especially, James can be a real asset to Leeds and Daniel Farke, with his electric pace a genuine weapon to instil fear into Championship defenders this term.

He would have been a great option to have in the goalless draw against Sheffield Wednesday prior to the international break, where Leeds huffed and puffed but struggled to break down the door against their Yorkshire rivals.

For Farke, he will want as many of his attacking players to be fit and firing as possible in the coming weeks as they look to kick on now the first international break is out of the way.

Even if James could only make the bench against Millwall, it would be great to see him back in the squad.
