Daniel Farke shares Dan James injury update after Leeds win v Middlesbrough
Dan James was the matchwinner for Leeds United on Tuesday night, though he was withdrawn in the second half with injury.
Leeds United took one step closer to promotion at the Riverside with a 1-0 victory against playoff-chasing Middlesbrough.
James, as he has been throughout the campaign, was the scorer for Leeds, taking his total goal contribution tally up to 21 for the season.
However, the Whites may be forced to make do without him at the weekend after the Welshman was struggling with an injury late in the game.

James likely to miss Preston encounter this weekend
James has arguably been Leeds’ most influential player this season, and certainly the most consistent when it comes to the numbers he has put up in the Championship.
21 goal contributions for a winger is a remarkable return, and given Ao Tanaka’s drop in form as of late, there’s a real case for him being Leeds’ player of the season.
However, it seems unlikely that he will be given the opportunity to continue that form when Preston travel to Elland Road, with Farke seemingly ruling him out of the clash.
Leeds United | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
James | 35 | 12 | 9 |
As quoted by Beren Cross on X (8 April), Farke said: “James had problems with his hamstring. Took him off not to risk anything, but it could be that the turnaround is too quick for Saturday. Does not look too good as it stands.”
His absence will certainly be a blow, but could provide Willy Gnonto with another chance to stake a claim for his place in the starting 11 after he was dropped for the victory.

Leeds are one step away from promotion
It has been a rollercoaster of a few weeks for the Whites, but they are back on track and heading towards the Premier League as things stand.
Five games remain, with Leeds sitting two points clear of third place, with their two other competitors yet to face off against each other.
Form needs to remain consistent for the final run-in, and if achieved, Premier League football will be returning to Elland Road next season, and everyone will finally be able to breathe a huge sigh of relief.
