Daniel Farke shares Bamford news in injury update on six Leeds United players pre-Cardiff City
Daniel Farke has revealed that Patrick Bamford has returned to Leeds United training ahead of the clash against Cardiff City on Saturday (21 September).
The Whites travel to the Welsh capital looking to bounce back to winning ways after a 1-0 defeat to Burnley last time out.
There have been plenty of injury concerns to contend with since this loss at Elland Road and now an update has been shared.
Speaking in his press conference on 19 September, Farke has provided an update on six Leeds players ahead of the clash at Cardiff City Stadium.
He said: “We had a few little knocks and hits and problems during this week. Rodon missed two training sessions due to some glute problems.
“Junior Firpo was struggling a bit with his MCL, Manor Solomon with some back problems. Joe Rothwell rolled his ankle, a few concerns but I’m carefully optimistic all of them will be available. Biggest question mark is [Manor] Solomon. [Max] Wober back in training today, just a light session, we wait to see his body reacts.
“Patrick Bamford back in team training since last Tuesday. Like all the players he can’t wait to be involved again. He tries to earn his place back in the squad and he’s edging closer.”
Daniel Farke provides Patrick Bamford update ahead of Leeds United v Cardiff City
Bamford has come under fire this season for a run of poor form with fans preferring to see Mateo Joseph start up front.
The Spaniard has performed well and has all but cemented his place as the starting number nine at Elland Road in recent weeks.
With that being said, having Bamford back amongst the squad will certainly put some pressure on the 20-year-old to keep up his quality in recent showings.
The former England international has to come in from injury and hit the ground running if he wants to cement a regular spot in the side under Farke.
He hasn’t scored a goal since April which is poor but his fitness has caused him problems in recent months.

This has seen the striker appear in just three matches since, with the ex-Middlesbrough man being trusted to just 22 minutes of Championship action [FotMob].
It will be interesting to see whether or not Farke chucks him straight in if he is deemed fit enough for the Cardiff clash.
In other Leeds United news, supporters are rightly fuming at the EFL after an official statement was released.
