Daniel Farke sack update emerges at Leeds United ahead of clash v Cardiff City

Daniel Farke is not “categorically safe” from the sack ahead of the clash between Leeds United and Cardiff City, according to Ben Jacobs.

The Whites travel to South Wales on Saturday (21 September) as they look to get back to winning ways in the Championship having lost to Burnley at Elland Road last time out.

While some have suggested the German could be under pressure at Leeds, sports broadcaster Jacobs insists that the 49ers are not expected to make a “knee-jerk reaction” before the next International break.

Speaking to Give Me Sport on Friday (20 September) he said: “It’s so early in the season, but Leeds have four key games before the international break to show their true colours.

“Owners 49rs Enterprises haven’t given Daniel Farke any kind of ultimatum, but it’s obvious the Leeds boss isn’t categorically safe unless results improve.

“Leeds got 90 points last season and were unlucky with that total not to go up automatically. The table is still so tight and Leeds could yet end up entering the international break in the top three. I don’t therefore expect a knee-jerk reaction in the days to follow.

“But what is clear is Leeds can’t stay mid-table in the Championship for too long. I don’t think any Leeds manager, not with this current squad, can be termed safe if time ticks away and they lose ground on the top three. Farke will know that, but it’s not quite time for panic yet.

“Leeds are ninth, but also just one big win off potentially moving third.”

Will Leeds United sack Daniel Farke amid Elland Road exit rumours?

While it hasn’t been quite the start to the season that most Leeds United fans would have been expecting at Elland Road, Farke has earned the right to be given time to turn things around in Yorkshire.

The German has been criticised for his lack of willingness to alter his tactical setup, but that same style of play has seen him win promotion from the Championship with Norwich City multiple times and win 90 points last term.

Partner that with the fact that he lost three of his best players during the summer transfer window in Archie Gray, Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter and it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Leeds have been a bit slow out of the blocks.

We’re yet to see the best of Manor Solomon, Ao Tanaka and Largie Ramazani in Leeds colours. Once they get up to speed with the Championship, then the time will have come to judge Farke.

The Whites are only five games into a 46-match campaign. There is still a genuine chance that Elland Road will be hosting Premier League football by the time next season rolls around.
