Daniel Farke responds when asked if Patrick Bamford will start in Leeds United clash v Rotherham

Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has responded when asked if striker Patrick Bamford will start against Rotherham.

The Whites make the trip to Rotherham on Friday (24 November) in the first match back for both clubs after the international break.

The West Yorkshire outfit go into the Championship encounter sitting third in the table, with the hosts sitting in 22nd.

As per Leeds Live (22 November), when asked if Friday is a chance for Bamford, Farke responded: “When a player is not available it’s always a chance for others to shine.

“We’ll see if Georginio Rutter plays. I never speak about the starting line-up. I speak about my appreciation for Patrick and it’s good to have him back for several weeks in training. I would have no problems to have him in the side.”

Start incoming?

Farke was as coy as ever when dealing with the press in the build-up to the Rotherham clash, with the German unsurprisingly not wanting to give too many secrets away.

What is clear, however, is that Bamford is fit after his recent injury struggles, meaning he could be in contention for a starting spot, having now featured in his club’s last eight league games.

The fitness of those returning from their respective nations from the latest international break may just play the main role in deciding who gets the nod from the man in the dugout.

But given Rotherham’s issues this season, with the club struggling in the relegation zone, the match may just represent the perfect opportunity for Farke to try Bamford from the first whistle.

It is a very busy schedule between now and Christmas, so the manager is set to be forced into constantly chopping and changing his starting XI over the coming weeks.
