Daniel Farke not on Chris Wilder’s level as pundit gives Leeds United verdict
Daniel Farke isn’t on “the tactical level” of Chris Wilder and Scott Parker as Leeds United look to go clear in the Championship title race, Sam Parkin has said.
Speaking on talkSPORT (29 December, 6:40am), the EFL pundit argued that while the Whites have a better individual quality of players compared to Sheffield United and Burnley, Farke isn’t up to scratch.
The German and his United side sit in the Championship’s top two alongside Wilder’s Blades, with Parkin adding that the latter and Scott Parker have more tactical flexibility in their current systems.
He said: “Leeds have got the best match winners, the best individuals – I don’t probably think that Daniel Farke’s maybe on the tactical level of the other two, if we’re talking about Wilder and Scott Parker.
“I think he allows the players to go out there and have a degree of freedom – to try and win games that way, rather than changing the system depending on who they’re facing.”
Daniel Farke and Leeds United have already passed tactical test
For all the talk – and valid criticism – surrounding some of the Whites’ below-par results this season, particularly those away from home, the table states that with 23 matches played, United lead the way.
While some big victories over the likes of Plymouth, Luton and Oxford have been recorded across recent weeks, arguably the statement performance of the campaign came against Sheffield United.

Amid a build-up marked by comments from Wilder on the necessity of promotion at Elland Road, his Blades were blunted in some style as Farke’s side dominated every single aspect of a 2-0 victory.
While their early-season match against Burnley in LS11 ended in a 1-0 reverse following a breakaway goal in the first half, it was yet another display of Farke’s Peacocks running the show against a promotion rival.
Away tests against the Clarets and Blades are coming up towards the end of January and Febraury respectively, giving Farke another chance to show he has what it takes to lead Leeds back to the top.
In other Leeds news, one of United’s transfer targets is growing frustrated at his club and could push for an exit in January.
