Daniel Farke makes Max Wober decision at Leeds United for new season

Leeds United manager Daniel Farke expects to see Maximilian Wober play a role in his squad next season, according to Beren Cross.

The LeedsLive journalist posted on X (19 July) to share that Farke is planning to have the centre-back in his squad this term, in a similar scenario to the one involving Brenden Aaronson.

Wober spent last season on loan at Borussia Monchengladbach but a permanent deal was not struck with the Bundesliga side.

Leeds United make Max Wober decision

Wober is not a particularly popular figure at Elland Road given he hinted he would stick around following the club’s relegation then opted to take up the clause allowing him to depart on loan after their demotion anyway.

But, just like Aaronson, it looks as though he will be part of the squad for Farke this season and, if he can perform to a high level, the versatile left-sided defender might still be able to win back favour with the Leeds faithful.

Ultimately, he does also add quality to Leeds’ backline and having him as an option to go along with Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk might allow Ethan Ampadu to play more regularly in the Whites’ midfield.

Time will tell whether he can do enough to prove to Leeds supporters he is worth a second chance but, for now at least, it looks as though he will be part of Farke’s thinking moving forwards.
