Graham Smyth saw Daniel Farke "losing his cool completely" with one Leeds United player during their 2-0 win at Cardiff City.

Writing in the Yorkshire Evening Post [22 September], Smyth spotted Farke "punching the air furiously" towards what appeared to be captain Ethan Ampadu in the second half of their Championship victory.

Ampadu received the brunt of Farke's frustrations after Cardiff were granted a counter-attack with the game still in the balance, but United regained their composure as Joel Piroe's goal made it 2-0 late on.

While Ampadu was the subject of his manager's frustrations with the Whites looking unlikely to kill the game off against Cardiff, it's Farke who will be under the most pressure to get the best out of his side.

United were far from clinical in a dominant first-half display against the 10 men of Cardiff, but other than Largie Ramazani's opener, they were profligate in attack and failed to make their one-way traffic count.

Those chances began to dissipate in a sluggish second period, failing to put the game to bed time and time again and seeing Pascal Struijk miss a penalty midway through the half.

Piroe's game-clinching goal may well have secured the points for what looked like a comfortable win on paper, but it certainly shouldn't have taken until the 87th minute to put the result beyond doubt.

Leeds supporters have long since begun to make their feelings known on the less exciting elements of Farke's football, and it's now up to the German to rectify United's struggles in attack.
