Daniel Farke hits back on repeat questions on Joel Piroe Leeds United position

Daniel Farke has hit back on repeat questioning on the position of Joel Piroe in his Leeds United squad.

Speaking in a pre-match press conference (6 October), the German claimed that this topic was often levelled at him and pleaded that it could no longer be asked.

Piroe has played, to great effect, in both the striker position and slightly deeper in behind the likes of Georginio Rutter or Crysencio Summerville.

Fark said, as quoted by Phil Hay on X: “I get the feeling that in each and every press conference, we’re discussing this topic. I totally understand this because it’s football, everyone has their own opinion. Let’s make a deal – I give you my whole thoughts. And then please don’t ask again!”

Stick with it

While journalists and fans alike will be keen to learn of Farke’s insight regarding Piroe’s positioning, no one can argue that the results have not been effective.

In a deal that could reach £16million, the 49er Enterprises will be eager for the Dutchman to prove his worth this season, and with six goals already in all competitions, he feels like a shrewd investment.

For Swansea City, Piroe played in many positions. Per Transfermark, the 24-year-old played as a striker, a second striker, attacking midfield and even right-wing. Such versatility was likely a huge draw for the Leeds hierarchy and in each position he’s played he has brought quality.

He can sometimes go a bit absent in games, but if the team behind him is playing poorly there’s little he can do about it. As Matty Hewitt of Leeds Live noted (6 October), Piroe is also adept at making players around him better, namely Georginio Rutter whose inspired form this season has been greatly effective.

Farke may be frustrated with repeated questioning, but he has formed a fantastic frontline that’s got many talking.

In other Leeds United news, a pundit has shared an Elland Road interest in a ‘blossomed’ young star before his new contract.
