Daniel Farke fumes at what Wilfried Gnonto did for Leeds United v Swansea
Daniel Farke was spotted fuming in the Leeds United technical area at Wilfried Gnonto during their 4-0 victory over Swansea City on Tuesday 13 February.
The 20-year-old winger bagged a brace after Crysencio Summerville and Joel Piroe put clear daylight between Leeds and the Swans in Wales, also assisting the latter’s strike.
However, the Whites manager remained frustrated with an early effort that Gnonto failed to convert. Leeds broke on the counter-attack from a Swansea corner, before he fired straight at Carl Rushworth.
The moment was spotted via the EFL’s Extended Highlights on YouTube on Tuesday, as the German sat down and slapped his thigh in frustration.
Wilfried Gnonto’s ups and downs for Leeds United
Already 2-0 up at the time, Gnonto can be forgiven for his missed chance, and the moment was quickly forgotten after the youngster slotted home twice to rectify his missed chance.
The early missed chance would have ended any hope of a Swansea comeback, which is why Farke’s frustration is understandable in the moment. Weirder things have happened in the Championship, and anything other than three points would not have been good enough.
The Championship is extremely competitive for yet another campaign, other than Leicester City, who look uncatchable already. Leeds are fighting for Premier League promotion alongside a plethora of other teams, such as Southampton, Ipswich Town and West Brom.
After the Saints’ surprise 3-1 loss to Bristol City, Leeds cannot afford to slow down and the German manager will have seen Gnonto’s miss as an area of weakness, especially with Piroe standing next to him for an easier finish.

Finishing the game with his third and fourth goal of the Championship season, Gnonto is still clearly on blistering form and is very much a danger to any defence in the league.
However, he will have to hope that the one moment against Swansea will not force Farke into axing him for the upcoming fixture against Plymouth Argyle, with Dan James back from injury and ready for action.
