Daniel Farke fumes at official in unseen Leeds United moment v Sheffield Wednesday
Leeds United boss Daniel Farke was embroiled in a dispute with one of the match officials during the 2-0 win against Sheffield Wednesday on Friday [23 August].
Graham Smyth reported on the off-camera incident in his post-match article for the Yorkshire Evening Post [24 August] and claimed it was caused by the official awarding a throw-in to the Owls.
Farke was seen by supporters in the stadium being consoled by fourth official Sam Allison following the heated exchange.
Smyth said: “Farke losing his rag with the assistant referee and having to be calmed by fourth official Sam Allison as a throw-in was awarded to the Owls and not his side.
“He was already irked by Bogle’s positioning as Leeds took a quick free-kick on the left, the right-back tucked too far inside to help progress the ball forward.”
Leeds United all smiles after first Championship win
Jayden Bogle may find himself in hot water with the Whites manager but there is no understating that the win against Sheffield Wednesday was massive for his side.
It was not only three points but a comfortable three points to help steady the nerves at the club after a chaotic transfer window followed by an even more chaotic start to the season.
Leeds have ended their early season rut that saw the side go winless in their first two Championship matches of the 2024/25 campaign and suffer an early Carabao Cup exit to Middlesbrough at Elland Road.
With the confirmed signing of Largie Ramazani and Manor Solomon set to join from Tottenham pending a medical [HITC], the future is looking bright for the Whites as they look to kickstart their Premier League promotion aspirations this season.

Leeds have remained firm favourites for automatic promotion this season despite the departures of Archie Gray, Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter, who have all ascended to the English top flight.
Farke has promised the supporters he will deliver the signings they are crying out for before the 30 August deadline and leave nothing to chance this season in their title charge.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites have agreed to pay a large slice of a £60,000-a-week contract to land another new signing before the deadline.
