Daniel Farke faces Leeds United sack even if promoted in shock new claim
Leeds United are pushing for promotion to the Premier League, but their season is still in real jeopardy with the final stretch approaching.
Daniel Farke’s side looked set to comfortably sail to promotion, but have thrown away their lead at the top of the Championship with some poor results in recent weeks.
Despite beating Sheffield United in February, Leeds are now below the Blades in the Championship table, as a disappointing draw at home to Swansea City saw them drop more points.
Leeds still have every chance of promotion, but it is now questionable whether Farke will survive after such a chaotically dismal recent run.

Leeds could part ways with Farke after Premier League promotion
If Leeds fail to achieve promotion, Farke will almost certainly be dismissed given the position his side were in to secure a Premier League return.
However, if Leeds go up by the skin of their teeth, they could still part ways with Farke, given the poor manner in which the season has panned out.
Speaking to Leeds United News (2 April), journalist Graeme Bailey shared that Farke’s position is far from secure regardless of promotion.
“I wouldn’t rule out the conversation [of an exit]. The 49ers use Red Bull. Red Bull know what they’re doing. If Leeds go top two, I don’t see them changing. Never say never,” he stated.
Opponent | Result |
Sheffield United | 3-1 win |
West Brom | 1-1 draw |
Portsmouth | 1-0 loss |
Millwall | 2-0 win |
QPR | 2-2 draw |
Swansea | 2-2 draw |
“With RedBull’s contacts and the club Leeds’ size, I think people underestimate the pull Leeds have. I don’t see them doing it with the pull Leeds have. But last day scraping it, it wouldn’t surprise me.
“He’s not as secure as Chris Wilder, he’s secure however they go up. He’d be on a short leash, he’d be sacked by November, December if they made a bad start.”

Leeds must secure automatic Premier League promotion
Leeds found themselves in the Championship play-off spots last season and ended up losing to Southampton in the final despite finishing above the Saints.
If Leeds fail to secure an automatic promotion spot, they could find themselves in a similar situation, despite having performed at a higher level than the rest of the division for most of the season.
Failing to finish first after leading for so long would already be a bad indictment on Farke, but dropping below Sheffield United and Burnley would be a huge warning sign for next season, regardless of how the play-offs pan out.
Leeds have problems they will need to address for next season no matter which division they are in, with a goalkeeper to replace Illan Meslier top of the priority list for the club.
