Daniel Farke concern shared amid ‘unbelievable’ Leeds United verdict v Portsmouth
Jeff Stelling believes Daniel Farke should be concerned by his side’s defending after Leeds United drew 3-3 with Portsmouth on Saturday (10 August).
Leeds resumed their form from last season from the penalty spot – Pascal Stuijk netting after 10 minutes – but it took a goal from Brenden Aaronson in the fifth minute of added time to salvage a point at Elland Road.
Farke’s side were caught on the counter-attack multiple times, with new signing Jayden Bogle also giving away a controversial penalty, and Stelling has now issued a warning for the Whites’ manager.
Speaking live via talkSPORT on Monday (12 August, 6:44am), he said: “It was unbelievable. At that stage, I thought it could be a landslide. In the end, they needed a 90+5′ equaliser.
“Although, I know they could have won it through Aaronson. Daniel Farke has got to be concerned about that defence, hasn’t he?”
Should Leeds United fans be concerned by the Portsmouth performance?
Just one match into the new Championship season and fans are already beginning to spiral after failing to secure all three points against a newly promoted side.
However, as much as a cliche as it is, the league season is a marathon, not a sprint. The Whites will have plenty of opportunities to wrong their rights, especially the disappointment of missing out on promotion last term.
Leeds should certainly be one of the teams vying for automatic promotion, alongside the likes of Sheffield United, Burnley and Luton Town, and should be looking to lift the league title too.
While some of the defending at Elland Road will raise some questions already, the addition of Joe Rodon this summer is an incredible signing and one that should be key for Farke.

With Ethan Ampadu moving back into his more natural midfield position, the centre-back partnership of Rodon and Struijk could be a huge duo for Leeds this season.
However, there is still plenty of work to do if the Whites are to claim promotion to the Premier League.
