Daniel Farke can convince exit-linked Robin Koch to stay as Leeds United appointment talks held

Daniel Farke has emerged as a strong contender for the Leeds United job – and the German could have a role to play in Robin Koch’s future.

The Athletic’s Phil Hay reported on 13 June that the former Norwich boss impressed Elland Road chiefs after holding initial talks.

The likes of Scott Parker and Carlos Corberan have also been considered as the board look to wrap up their hunt for a new boss.

If Farke does land the job, he could have a big impact on Koch’s future. Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg revealed (via Twitter, 14 June) that the German is on Manchester United’s radar and that “loose” talks have taken place.

The 26-year-old does look likely to depart during the off-season. However, that could change if the former Norwich man comes through the door.

Of course, there’s the obvious nationality link – but Farke’s style of play could be well-suited. Whilst at Carrow Road Farke deployed towering German Christoph Zimmermann at the back along with Grant Hanley. Both were extremely aggressive and physical – this style could suit Koch.

Furthermore, Norwich looked to play out using the two central defenders. Using shorter passes into midfield and longer diagonal switches. We’ve seen Koch’s ability to play long sweeping passes and that’s something which could be replicated under Farke.

His future is certainly up in the air at present, but it’s crucial that the boar come to some sort of resolution soon.

The sooner a manager is hired the better. Until an appointment is made decisions on players will have to wait.
