Daniel Farke bullish in Leeds United sack meeting as surprise contract update emerges

Daniel Farke managed to keep his Leeds United job after arguing it was impossible to judge after just a handful of Premier League games.

With doubts around his future in November, the German manager was summoned to a call with investors, in which he was bullish and demanded more time, with 49ers Enterprises eventually sticking by him, according to the Daily Mail.

Mike Keegan reports in the news outlet on 20 February that while Farke has turned things around at Elland Road, talks are yet to take place over extending his current contract, which expires in 2027, and that may come as a “surprise” after what’s happened.

The 49-year-old head coach still has work to do to ensure Premier League safety at the West Yorkshire outfit, but he’s taken massive strides in recent weeks.

49ers Enterprises to hold off on new Daniel Farke contract after Leeds United development

Leeds are 15th in the Premier League, six points off 18th-place West Ham United.

The Hammers are slowly starting to close the gap on the teams above them, and while fans at Elland Road are confident about avoiding the drop, anything can happen between now and the end of the season.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s form has arguably pushed the Whites up the table, and supporters will hope the England international stays fit and keeps on scoring goals in the final stretch of the campaign.

The West Yorkshire outfit have some tough fixtures coming up in the league against Aston Villa and Manchester City, and the results could likely go against them.

Farke will undoubtedly know that there’s a lot of work to do before the Peacocks can consider themselves safe, and the 49ers may be waiting until top-flight survival is confirmed before opening talks with the German manager over a new deal.

Why Daniel Farke may opt against Elland Road stay

After winning the Championship title with Leeds last season, there were talks of making a change in the dugout due to Farke’s record in the Premier League with Norwich City.

The German manager would certainly have been offended by the lack of faith in him despite achieving automatic promotion last season and beating Burnley to top spot in the second tier.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see the 49-year-old head coach opt against extending his stay at Elland Road and see out his contract after how he’s been treated.

Farke has shown he’s capable of leading a team in the English top flight with tactical versatility, with bigger and better things on the horizon.
