It appears that not even a nine-goal star is safe from Daniel Farke’s wrath at Leeds United as Crysencio Summerville was barked at during a 2-0 victory over Blackburn Rovers.
Witnessed by journalist Graham Smyth, Farke was seen barking orders at Summerville for his lack of energy to defend.
In the end, it was a small moment in the match that did not have a lasting impact as he and Dan James scored the goals to help Leeds claim their 12th win of the season.
Smyth wrote for the Yorkshire Evening Post on Friday (10 December): “Farke barking at Summerville to get back after he dribbled the ball out of play and then wandered back onto the pitch but didn’t drop in to defend. “
No special treatment
Despite the winger’s fine form, it is clear that Farke does not back down to anyone if they cannot do their job on the pitch properly. That is vital for a team challenging for promotion back to the Premier League.
The pressure from the sidelines must have worked, with Summerville wrapping up the game in style with a smart dink over Leopold Wahlstedt on 75 minutes. All that hard work paid off.
With a whole host of attacking talent on the pitch, it is easy to get carried away with trying to score goals and, therefore, neglecting the defensive duties. When the goals are flowing for Leeds, the whole team behind the ball is not needed so much.
But when his side is holding onto a lead, wholeheartedly defending is the bare minimum for Farke. High expectations are part of what is keeping the Whites from falling further behind league leaders Leicester City.
