Daniel Farke axes Willy Gnonto, three changes – Leeds United confirmed XI v Stoke City

Daniel Farke has made three changes to his starting lineup for the Leeds United game against Stoke City on Tuesday (5 March).

Ahead of kick-off, the Whites confirmed via their official Twitter account that Illan Meslier will start in goal, with Connor Roberts, Joe Rodon, Ethan Ampadu and Sam Byram making up the defence.

Ilia Gruev will be joined in midfield by Glen Kamara, while Dan James, Georginio Rutter, Crysencio Summerville and Patrick Bamford will play in the attacking positions.

That means Archie Gray, Junior Firpo and Willy Gnonto drop down to the bench following the 1-1 draw with Huddersfield Town on 2 March.

Leeds United must keep up the pace

The form Leeds have been in recently has been nothing short of exceptional, but Farke will be keen for them to get back to winning ways after the draw with Huddersfield.

He will have been slightly frustrated by the performance against the Terriers as his side slipped from the high standards they have been showing over the past couple of months.

After Ipswich Town leapfrogged them into second place, it’s important that they continue to win their home games and keep up the pace in the promotion race.

The Whites have done incredibly well to claw back the gap on Leicester City and the Tractor Boys, so now isn’t the time to let the past couple of months go to waste.

Farke will be looking for his side to come out of the traps quickly and lay down another statement that they are not going away in the battle for promotion this season.
