Daniel Farke achieves Leeds first as relegation fears mount after Nottingham Forest defeat

A growing feeling has emerged among Leeds United fans that Daniel Farke is leading them towards relegation from the Premier League.

Leeds crashed to a 3-1 defeat at Nottingham Forest on Sunday, despite Lukas Nmecha putting them ahead early on at the City Ground.

Goals from Ibrahim Sangare, Morgan Gibbs-White, and Elliott Anderson, however, condemned the visitors to a fifth away defeat of the campaign.

Farke is under increasing scrutiny, and worries over the lack of attacking reinforcements in the summer have been brutally exposed many times this season, as they sit just one point above the drop zone.

Leeds’ defeat to Forest marked the first occasion they’ve scored first and lost a game under Farke.

Daniel Farke breaks unwanted personal record at Leeds

Leeds are now favourites to be relegated after the dismal performance at the City Ground, and it seems to be a matter of time before Farke loses his job.

After winning the Championship in 2024-25, Leeds’ recruitment hasn’t been up to scratch, and they are paying the price in the Premier League this season.

The Peacocks lost for the first time after scoring the opening goal under Farke, having stayed unbeaten in their past 53 games doing so.

Leeds fans would have been pleased with the starting line-up, with Anton Stach coming in for Ao Tanaka, but a lack of proactivity from Farke cost them, again.

Nmecha also stepped up in Dominic-Calvert-Lewin’s drop to the bench, yet the gap in quality was brutally exposed in the second half.

Having excelled in the second tier when it came to making the most of a lead, it’s clear to see that Farke is struggling to get the best out of his squad, and fans are now demanding change before it’s too late.

Elland Road is a fortress for the players, but away results will need to drastically improve if they are to have a fighting chance.

The fixtures don’t get any easier for Leeds

The international break will allow Farke to reflect on what’s been going wrong on the road this season.

Losses to Forest, Burnley, and Fulham have been a real concern, and the upcoming games against sides with far more quality could spell a lot of trouble for Leeds.

Their remaining away games in 2025 include trips to Man City, Brentford, and Sunderland, and all three teams have excellent home records.

The travelling supporters will inevitably be fearing the worst, and the home matches against Aston Villa, Liverpool, and Chelsea in that period won’t ease any concerns over Leeds’ Premier League status.
