Dan James starts for Manchester United amid Leeds links

Leeds United aren’t expected to make any extra signings before the deadline on Tuesday evening.

There is one link that keeps appearing over the weekend, and that is Manchester United winger Dan James.

Alan Nixon reported this morning that the Whites have been offered the chance to sign the Welsh international.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is said to want rid of the winger after the Red Devils completed the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo.

They don’t appear too desperate to sort an exit though, with James starting the Premier League clash against Wolves this afternoon.

There were plenty of options to use off the bench, and even bigger names, so it looks as though James is well and truly in the pecking order at Old Trafford.

Anthony Martial, Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard were all at Molineux, and surely they would have been used if James was on the way out.

Not happening.

There are many links that have come and gone over this summer as expected, but this one never seems to go away.

Ever since James was seconds away from announcing his move to Elland Road over two years ago, it just won’t disappear.

Marcelo Bielsa is a big fan of the Welsh speedster, that is no secret, so if he became available, it could happen.

Angus Kinnear shared that the Whites are ready to take advantage of any scenario that leads to a door being opened for signings this week.

If the door was about to open, surely Solskjaer wouldn’t have started him aganist Wolves this afternoon.

Is this another one we can all wave goodbye to?
