Dan James shares if he will celebrate if he scores for Leeds v Manchester United, insists ‘no hatred’

Dan James has insisted that he will celebrate should he score for Leeds against Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.

Quizzed on whether he would give it to the travelling rival fans of his former side, the Welshman admitted there was “no hatred”.

James has scored three in his last five outings, and looks set to lead the line for the Whites at Elland Road in this huge showdown.

Speaking to The Times in the past 24 hours, James shared how he would react if he was to find the back of the net.

“Of course, I’d celebrate, I can’t not,” he says. “It’s what the game’s about, a lot of emotion. I’ve got no hatred towards Man United. I left on good terms. I’ve still got a lot of friends there.

“It’s a great feeling scoring. So, of course, I’ll celebrate. I want to score every game. Some players really want to score against their old club, and give it back to the fans. That’s not me. The fans were great to me there. The fans are great here.”

Hatred in the air.

It may not be from James, but the atmosphere is likely to be one of the biggest and best we have seen in the past 20 years at Elland Road.

If an early goal goes in, the roof will simply come off the place, and it will be as hostile as ever every single time one of those away players takes a touch.

Given the problems coming from within their squad that are very public, this is the last game they need right now.

Having said that, they always seem to miraculously find form when against the Whites, so it is up to us to be prepared for that on Sunday.

It would be brilliant to see James find the back of the net and celebrate in that corner where the away fans meet the South Stand, bring it on.
