Dan James hit by crushing Leeds injury blow as sources reveal latest from Thorp Arch

Leeds United will be without Dan James for even longer after the latest update from Thorp Arch.

Leeds United have picked up four points from their last two games, having dealt with several injury concerns in that period.

Both James and Willy Gnonto were absent from Leeds’ win against Wolves, while the former returned to make the bench against Bournemouth.

However, the Welshman has suffered yet another setback with the Whites, and the latest update does not spell good news.

Leeds United dealt yet another Dan James blow

While there are some concerns over James’ ability to adapt to the Premier League, he is still a key player under Daniel Farke, as showcased by the team selection so far this season.

However, that is now likely to change, with Adam Pope revealing on X that the Welshman has suffered an injury in a training session with Leeds that could rule him out for “a long time.”

James’ record last season for Leeds

The Whites are expected to make an official statement in due course, confirming the severity of the injury, though this update doesn’t look good.

Brenden Aaronson started wide right for Leeds in the last two encounters, and with Gnonto’s availability still waiting to be clarified, he could be in line to do so again.

Daniel Farke faces yet another dilemma at Leeds

Aaronson played well on the right-wing for Leeds in their 2-2 draw with Bournemouth, though it simply isn’t sustainable to keep him there for the long term.

For reasons unknown, Farke seems to snub Gnonto more often than not, but James’ injury means that he may be left with little choice other than to let the Italian start regularly.

Ultimately, that will benefit Leeds given Gnonto’s ability, though it could also open the door for Jack Harrison to make his first real impact of the season.

The update on James is a concerning one, but for the sake of squad balance, the hope will be that it isn’t as severe as it is made out to be.
