Dan James has revealed what he is expecting from Leeds United and Marcelo Bielsa
New Leeds United signing Dan James has revealed that he doesn’t expect to start every game automatically and is prepared to put the hard work in.
Speaking to Sky Sports News, the Welsh winger revealed his thoughts on working with the Argentine and admitted that he was flattered to have been chased by Bielsa for two and a half years [via Football Daily].
James comes across well in this short interview and appears to be determined to make his time at Elland Road a success.
He said: “It’s always nice to be recognised by one of the top managers around the world. He’s had that interest since I nearly joined two and a half years ago.
“For him to come in this window and want me now is obviously a great thing for me but doesn’t mean anything going into the club; it doesn’t mean I am going to play every game.
“It’s going to be hard work as soon as I get in; they’ve got great players there, so I have still got a lot of fighting to do.”
James sounds determined to make it.
The 23-year-old has had two years at Manchester United, but it doesn’t appear as if he has developed an ego or anything like that, and he sounds like he is willing to graft.
Ultimately, we can’t see him immediately breaking his way into Leeds’ starting XI because both Jack Harrison and Raphinha deservedly have earned their right to be in this Whites side.

We expect that initially, the Welshman will be used from the bench as an impact substitute, but his pace and energy should give the Whites a new dimension in attack.
We hope that James has a long and successful career with Leeds, and it is great to hear him praise Bielsa and admit that he is willing to work hard for the club.
That is all you want to hear from a new signing, really, and we can’t wait to see him on the pitch.
