Dan James and Joe Rodon react to Swansea City fans after Leeds United win
Dan James and Joe Rodon were spotted applauding the Swansea City fans during a lap of the Swansea.com Stadium pitch after a 4-0 victory for Leeds United on Tuesday 13 February.
The Wales pair spent a segment of their senior careers with the Swans before making moves elsewhere, with Rodon graduating from the club’s academy before earning a transfer to Tottenham Hotspur.
James came off the bench during the victory in Wales, having recently recovered from injury, as Daniel Farke chose to extend Wilfried Gnonto’s run in the side instead.
Taking to X on Tuesday (13 February), S4C presenter Sioned Dafydd posted an image of the players, with the caption: “DJ and Joe doing a lap applauding the Swans fans. My heart.”
Leeds United duo appreciate their Swansea past
Considering that Swansea had just been thumped 4-0 by Leeds, it was a touching moment to see the pair appreciate the club that they developed at, creating the players they are today.
While James had five years in the South of Wales, Rodon, born in Swansea, has a much deeper connection with the club after coming through their academy, where he was given his first opportunity for first-team football.
The two have experienced very different careers, but have Swansea to thank for where they are today. Leeds fans should also be very thankful, with the pair starring for the Whites throughout an exciting Premier League-bound season at Elland Road.
The reception may have not been so loving for the rest of the Leeds squad, though, especially after former Swansea striker Joel Piroe doubled the visitor’s lead after Crysencio Summerville’s opener.
The victory meant that the Whites leapfrogged Southampton into second place in the Championship, with the Saints suffering a surprise 3-1 defeat to Bristol City. Leeds currently have multiple teams snapping at their heels but Daniel Farke has been in this position before with Norwich City.
In other Leeds United news, a journalist has issued a January transfer admission over one Whites star, with an Elland Road exit prediction made.
