D.C. United finalising transfer to sign Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich
Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich is nearing a move to Major League Soccer franchise D.C. United with terms being finalised, according to Tom Bogert.
The Guardian journalist and MLS specialist reported via his personal Twitter account that the Polish international was indeed close to seeing a deal be agreed between the two clubs.
D.C. United are keen to make a January move happen with their season beginning before the summer window opens and are therefore moving swiftly on with negotiations.
“BREAKING: D.C. United are finalizing a deal to sign Poland midfielder Mateusz Klich from Leeds United per sources. Not 100% done yet, but close,” Bogert said.
Klich would not go to Washington D.C. as one of the club’s designated players, however, leaving manager Wayne Rooney another spot for a top talent from Europe.
Finally
In truth, this deal could and perhaps should have been done over the summer as it seemed clear that he would not get many minutes for Leeds United this season.
The MLS season was in full swing over the summer which may have caused problems in any deals being done but a loan could have been made to just get him on the pitch.

Klich himself probably wanted to go in the summer too as he would have had a much better chance of making the World Cup squad with Poland had he been playing every week in the States.
Jesse Marsch may have to call upon Darko Gyabi and Archie Gray more than he was anticipating when the season resumes, if Klich does leave, unless Victor Orta gives him the money to spend on a replacement.
But anyone he signs will have to play second-fiddle to Tyler Adams and Marc Roca anyway who have quickly become a key part of the Whites setup.
In other Leeds United news, this youth football expert has been truly wowed by one Elland Road starlet who has burst onto the Premier League scene this season.
