Crysencio Summerville shares reaction to Leeds United debut in Premier League
Crysencio Summerville knew that one day he would be a Premier League footballer but he could not stop the tears following his league debut with Leeds United.
Watching BBC’s Match of the Day as a kid, Summerville had his eyes set on the top tier of English football for years.
The 22-year-old joined the Whites in April of 2021 but was forced to wait until the 2021/22 season to make his first Premier League appearance, coming on as a substitute against Newcastle United.

“We used to watch Match of the Day for the Premier League highlights, he said on the Leeds United official podcast (11 December).
“I told my brother, when I was around 12 years old, that England has the best league in the world and one day I will play there.
“When I made my debut in 2021, I came home and cried because I didn’t expect it to happen. Sometimes you just say something, but this happened.
“Looking back, I am so proud that I can say I made it to the Premier League.”
Taking the opportunity
Leeds gave Summerville that chance to prove to everyone what he has believed in himself since he was a child. And the winger has already paid back that trust shown in him, especially this season.
Since making his debut, he has made 60 appearances for the Whites, scoring 13 goals, with nine of them coming this season in a brilliant start to the campaign.

And even despite relegation last season, the Dutchman still managed four goals, one of which was a stunner against Liverpool in a 2-1 away win at Anfield – an incredible memory for players and fans alike.
Although Elland Road is no longer home to a Premier League team, it could be next season if Summerville continues his incredible form, alongside Dan James, Joel Piroe and Georginio Rutter.
But just knowing how much playing football means to Summerville, and his ambition to play in the Premier League breeds confidence at the club that they will once again be in the top tier, without a long-awaited return like last time.
