Crysencio Summerville sends message to Wilfried Gnonto after Leeds United v Coventry City
Crysencio Summerville sent Wilfried Gnonto a message after he starred for Leeds United in the 3-0 win against Coventry City.
Gnonto, who opened the scoring at Elland Road after just 16 minutes on Saturday 28 September, posted a compilation of photos from the match on his Instagram account.
The Italian international’s goal was the first of three Daniel Farke’s side managed in a one-sided display to return to winning ways on home soil, with Jayden Bogle and Joel Piroe netting in the second half.
Summerville, who left to join West Ham United for north of £20million in the summer, sent an encouraging four-word comment, saying: “Your time my boy.”
The time is now for Wilfried Gnonto at Leeds United
Summerville’s assessment of Gnonto against Coventry is no doubt full of praise, but also represents an unlikely truth for the 20-year-old winger at Elland Road.
At the end of last season, Gnonto, Summerville and Georginio Rutter’s attacking combination looked a dead-cert to fire the Whites back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Just a few months later though, and after defeat to Southampton in the Championship play-off final, Gnonto is the only one of the trio who remains, after Rutter also departed to Brighton for £40m.
That leaves Gnonto, who signed a new contract at Elland Road despite attention on him in the transfer window, as arguably Farke’s main man in the bid to right the wrongs of last season.
Scoring eight goals in 36 league matches last season has given way to two in seven appearances so far this term, and if his showing against Coventry is anything to go by, Summerville is spot on in his assessment that this is indeed Gnonto’s time.
