Crysencio Summerville sends message after Ilia Gruev news at Leeds United

Crysencio Summerville has endured a nightmare season since leaving Leeds United.

Summerville left Elland Road last summer, joining West Ham on a permanent deal, but has been hit by constant injury issues which has seen him hardly feature at the London Stadium.

Daniel Farke reluctantly allowed Summerville to leave for the Premier League after the reigning Championship Player of the Year missed out on promotion.

Ilia Gruev wins Bulgarian award

This season, Ilia Gruev has made 19 appearances for Leeds, with a knee injury also hampering his progress at Elland Road after an impressive first season.

The Bulgaria international is a reliable option to have in the squad and has performed well when playing for Leeds.

With the international break going on, several Leeds players have been called up by their countries, and Gruev will join up with Bulgaria for games against the Republic of Ireland.

Ahead of those games, the Bulgarian FA held their annual awards ceremony, with Gruev taking second place, as he confirmed on his Instagram account.

Commenting on Gruev’s post, Summerville replied, “Maestro” as he congratulated his ex-teammate.

16 Leeds United players on international duty

As many as 16 Leeds United players are on international duty and Gruev is one of them.

Dan James, Joe Rodon and Karl Darlow have joined the Wales squad. Manor Solomon will be with Israel, whereas Junior Firpo and Ao Tanaka have joined the Dominican Republic and Japan respectively.

Wilfried Gnonto and Mateo Joseph are also in action during the international break, as they look for more consistent action to set them up for the end of the season at Elland Road.

Isaac Schmidt was a surprise call-up by Switzerland for their games during the break, too.

Farke will be hoping that his players return from the international break injury-free and he has a full-strength team in the business end of the Championship season.

Leeds remain top of the table with only eight games to play, with Sheffield United level and Burnley two points behind, setting up a blockbuster end to the season.
