Crysencio Summerville makes Junior Firpo admission after Leeds United v Norwich City
Crysencio Summerville has said that his connection with Leeds United teammate Junior Firpo has “grown a lot” and that he “loves to play” with the Brazilian.
Firpo set the Dutchman up to score the final goal of Leeds’ 4-0 win over Norwich City on 16 May despite being in a good position to shoot himself.
And Summerville feels his connection with Firpo on the left has developed well this season.
Speaking to Leeds Live (22 May), Summerville said: “Through the season our connection grew a lot. I love to play with Junior on the left and we feel each other like water. I can only say it’s been good.
“[Against Norwich], normally, some people could take a shot [from the position he was in], but he had a look, saw me and thought, ‘Okay, Cree is in a better position’, so he played me the ball.”
Can Crysencio Summerville and Junior Firpo fire Leeds United to playoff success?
Summerville and Firpo’s connection on the left flank for Leeds could prove useful as they take on Southampton in the playoff final at Wembley on 26 May.
The 22-year-old winger has enjoyed an incredibly productive campaign, helping himself to 21 goals and 10 assists across all competitions en route to collecting the Championship’s Player of the Season award.
Firpo’s creative prowess has been on full display this term, too, racking up seven assists in the regular season of the English second tier before his selfless pass to Summerville against Norwich made it eight.

However, the Brazilian left-back’s defending has been called into question at times, with the defender making a notable error in the 2-1 defeat to Wembley opponents Southampton on the final day of the regular season.
The Whites will need all the duo’s combined attacking flair without any defensive errors if they are to beat the Saints in the final and return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
In other Leeds United news, a “disaster” has been outlined as four players have already been lined up for a summer transfer exit.
