Leeds United: Graham Smyth delivers 'far behind him' verdict on Crysencio Summerville
Leeds United forward Crysencio Summerville showed he is no longer a “lightweight” when hurling Jack Colback to the floor in the win over QPR, according to reporter Graham Smyth.
Summerville was the match-winner for Leeds in Wednesday’s [4 October] Championship clash as he scored the only goal nine minutes in.
Beyond his goal, it was something that happened off the ball at Elland Road that caught the attention of Smyth.
Reviewing unseen bits from the match for the Yorkshire Evening Post [5 October], Smyth said: “Summerville hurling Colback to the ground off the ball.
“The days of the winger looking lightweight are far behind him. He rode a number of challenges in the early stages that a couple of years ago would have felled him.”
Consistency
Summerville was only 18 when he arrived at Elland Road, so it is only natural that he is starting to look a little less lightweight.
The Dutchman is maturing nicely as a player and is now truly finding his feet, having produced a number of Man of the Match displays this season.
Goals and assists had been lacking from his game, but his strike against QPR makes it a respectable enough three goal involvements in seven appearances this term.
Summerville took his early chance well, with a smart touch helping him see off his marker before he picked out the bottom corner – as cool as you like.
After a summer in which he was regularly linked with a move away from Elland Road, the 21-year-old has finally been able to get his head down.
Now hopefully he can produce some consistent displays throughout the campaign and help fire Leeds back to an instant promotion.
In other Leeds United news, Daniel Farke could be facing an issue with one of his players after a development on Wednesday [4 October].
