Crysencio Summerville issues injury update on Instagram after Leeds United star absent from Josh Warrington ring walk

Crysencio Summerville was injured in the friendly between Leeds United and Elche this week, but he’s issued a promising update via Instagram.

Summerville was hand-picked by boxer Josh Warrington to accompany him on his ring walk on Saturday night, but the Leeds United star had to withdraw after his injury v Elche.

Liam Cooper stood in for Summerville to walk Warrington out before his eventual defeat to Luis Alberto Lopez. Summerville was still spotted in the venue watching the fight, and his latest injury update will relieve Leeds fans.

Summerville broke the news via Instagram in a story that read: “Unfortunately I picked up a little injury in Spain not too bad.

“But the skipper is going to step in and walk with Josh tonight. Let’s go Leeds warrior.”

Not too bad

While the news that Summerville was going to miss the walkout is obviously sad, Leeds fans can at least smile at Summerville’s injury being “not too bad”.

The Dutch winger has been absolutely superb for the Whites this season, scoring four goals in four consecutive matches to end the first half of the season.

He single-handedly won Leeds two consecutive matches against Liverpool and Bournemouth, and he’ll likely be the first name on Jesse Marsch’s teamsheet when the Premier League resumes.

Leeds’ training camp in Spain was a huge success and the victory against Elche will hopefully fill the squad with confidence ahead of what is bound to be an incredibly hard challenge against Manchester City.

The only negative from the Elche win was Summerville’s injury, but it seems the 21-year-old will be just fine for the visit from the league champions on 28 December.
