Crysencio Summerville issue emerges – Early Leeds United team news v Blackburn

Daniel Farke has shared his early team news ahead of the Leeds United game against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday (9 December).

Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Thursday (7 December), the Whites boss said Joe Gelhardt, Sam Byram and Crysencio Summerville have all overcome issues and have been back in training on Thursday.

But after it was confirmed Junior Firpo will miss some time through injury and Ian Poveda is away with the Colombian national team, he added that Luke Ayling remains the only question mark ahead of the trip to Ewood Park.

“We had a few knocks after the last game and had to manage a load,” said Farke. “Joe (Gelhardt) got a few problems after last week and in the beginning of the week, Sam Byram and Crysencio Summerville, so Joe a few problems and we had to manage the load.

“But all three were reinvolved in training today, so I expect them all to be available, fit and to be ready. Obviously, we have the injury of Junior Firpo and Ian Paved was called up for the Colombia international team.

“The only question mark is about Luke Ayling because he had two proper days of training in the last couple of days, but reported then yesterday after the training some light knee problems. So today I hope that he is able to train back with the team tomorrow in order to be available.”

Statement

This is one of those games where Farke knows his side will have to be absolutely at it if they are to claim a result against Blackburn.

While Leeds have picked up some excellent away wins already this season, their form on the road has been a little bit indifferent at times.

Despite Rovers losing 3-1 at Sheffield Wednesday last time out, they are a team that are usually hanging about the Championship playoffs and the story is no different for them this year.

Leeds United

There will be one notable absentee on the sidelines for the hosts, though, as manager Jon Dahl Tomasson is facing a one-match touchline ban after being sent off against the Owls.

Whether that will make too much of a difference to matters on the pitch is anyone’s guess, but it’s another chance for the Whites to make a statement as they look to challenge for promotion this season.
