Crysencio Summerville deserves to start for Leeds United v Crystal Palace

Leeds United are going through a decent campaign where they have registered nine points from their first eight Premier League matches.

Next up for the Whites, will be a Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday, 09 October.

Ahead of the match, Jesse Marsch was asked in the media talk whether young Crysencio Summerville will play in place of suspended Luis Sinisterra.

The Leeds manager did not give a clear answer but was full of praise for the 20-year-old, who according to him is in his “best form”.

“First of all, we feel like Crysencio Summerville is in his best form since I’ve been here,” said Marsch (minute 6:37-6:45). “So, he certainly becomes a factor from the start or off the bench.”

Leeds made six first-team signings in the summer transfer window where one of the most expensive ones was Sinisterra who arrived from Dutch club Feyenoord in a £21 million deal [Daily Mail].

However, the Colombia international will not be available in the match against Palace after he was sent off for a second bookable offence in the 48th minute when he blocked Villa’s attempt to take a free kick following his foul on Jacob Ramsey.

In Summerville, the Whites probably have one of the most promising attacking youngsters in the country who has come through the ranks and has delivered at the junior level.

Even though he is yet to make a mark for the senior team this season, in just a couple of Premier League 2 matches, the 20-year-old was unstoppable as he scored a goal and provided four assists [Transfermarkt].

That’s not it as in the previous two campaigns, the Netherlands under-21 international scored 12 times and provided seven assists in just 25 Premier League 2 appearances.

Those numbers suggest that he is just too good to participate in junior football and therefore, it might be just the right time for Marsch to unleash Summerville and give him the freedom to express himself on the field, something that might end up surprising the Eagles on Sunday.
