Crysencio Summerville asked Marcelo Bielsa to leave Leeds United in January window

Marcelo Bielsa has confirmed that Crysencio Summerville asked to leave Leeds United in the January transfer window.

El Loco admitted that he answered “No problem” as he wouldn’t stand in the way of a player who didn’t want to be at the club.

It is unclear whether or not it would have been a loan or permanent exit, with Hamburg strongly linked with the winger.

Bielsa confirmed that the winger wanted an exit, with Phil Hay relaying the news on his personal Twitter account this morning.

“He spoke with me and he told me that he wanted to leave,” he said.

“I told him there wasn’t any problem with him leaving. Any player who tells me they want to leave, I would answer ‘no problem’.”

Patience.

Summerville has been given a brilliant platform at Elland Road, and it looks as though he has thrown it straight back in the clubs’ face.

Why would he want to leave at this stage?

There is a brilliant pathway into the first-team at Elland Road, and he has been given minutes he would get nowhere else in England at this level.

Jack Harrison and Raphinha are clearly ahead of him in the wide positions, but we’ve seen how frequently players can be injured for the Whites.

One problem and the Dutchman could be straight into the team, so why would he want to throw away all of that progress?

We’ve seen many times that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side, and we just hope Summerville doesn’t throw his toys out of the pram after failing to get the move he clearly wanted.
