Coventry City make approach to sign Leeds United defender Charlie Cresswell in cash deal
Coventry City are in the race for Leeds United centre-half Charlie Cresswell and have made a cash-buy “approach” for him, according to Sun journalist Alan Nixon.
The 20-year-old has enjoyed a fruitful loan spell at Millwall this season, bagging four goals and an assist in 16 Championship games for the South London outfit.
However, the player has suffered from a lack of game time despite his form which has led to plenty of interest from fellow English second-division clubs.

High-flying Middlesborough have recently been credited with an interest [The Sun, 21 January] in Cresswell, with new boss Michael Carrick wanting to sign him on a permanent deal.
However, according to Nixon, writing on his Patreon page [29 January], West Midlands outfit Coventry City have joined the race for the defender, and have made a cash-buy approach.
He reports that Boro’ are also keen but the player is prepared to wait for a possible Premier League interest or suitors from abroad.
Part of Future
If the Whites do end up selling Cresswell in the coming months, then it will certainly be deemed as a huge surprise.
Jesse Marsch will be aiming to revamp his defence in the future and Cresswell should be considered a big part of that rebuild and he is a player with signifcant potential and bags of quality at the tender age of 20.

His lack of game time at Millwall is a cause for concern, especially considering his impressive goal return and that will not any good to his confidence.
The Whites should bring him back to Elland Road with a view to shipping him out again to a club who will guarantee him the game time and development his talents warrant.
High-flying Middlesborough or Coventry City look the perfect destinations for him to continue his learning, but the club must not sell him on a permanent deal as Cresswell still has a big role to play in the future of Elland Road.
In other Leeds news, Brexit is complicating Leeds’ bid to complete another signing this month.
