Considerable setbacks key reason for Leeds United to sell Tyler Roberts to Birmingham City

We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Leeds United...

Leeds United made the right decision to let go of Tyler Roberts due to his considerable injury history, believes Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert reacts as the 24-year-old completed his permanent transfer to Championship side Birmingham City.

Last season, the Wales international showed what he can do in the second tier as he was on loan at Queens Park Rangers.

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said on Roberts,

“Based on his considerable injury history and delayed recoveries, it certainly makes sense for them to let him go.

“Additionally, if the club does have aspirations to get back to the Premier League, it’s difficult to rely on a player who can’t stay healthy in the championship to handle the rigours of the Premier League.”

In March 2023, Roberts opened up about his depressing issues with injuries as his calf concern saw him miss a number of games on loan.

The 24-year-old has made over 100 appearances for the Whites in all competitions but did not win over the coaching staff at Elland Road.

He will still fondly be remembered for his role in helping Leeds secure promotion under Marcelo Bielsa.

Roberts will be looking to play regularly for Birmingham and become a regular for the Wales national team.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites have agreed on personal terms to secure their next signing after Ethan Ampadu.
