Conor Coady loves what he’s seen from Daniel Farke as Leeds ‘masterstroke hailed

Conor Coady has hailed Daniel Farke for a “masterstroke” that has helped to transfer Leeds United’s season.

Ahead of the Whites’ visit to Manchester City at the end of November, Farke look destined for the sack with the fans firmly against him.

However, a spirited display at the Etihad was followed by a 3-1 over Chelsea at Elland Road, sparking life back into their Premier League survival chances.

Leeds then drew 3-3 with Liverpool just three days later, Ao Tanaka scoring a 96th-minute equaliser to shock the champions.

Daniel Farke has pulled off a ‘masterstroke’ at Leeds

Leeds‘ complete turnaround can be largely credited to a change in system, which Farke implemented at half-time against Manchester City.

The West-Yorkshire side went to a 5-3-2 formation and began playing direct to their two frontmen, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, Conor Coady outlined why the recent system change has been such a boost for the Whites.

He said: “In terms of the formation change and going to something that suits them, I think it’s been a little bit of a masterstroke, to be honest.”

Coady also revealed that he is a big fan of Farke as a manager, and believes the German comes across very well in the media.

He said: “I’m absolutely over the moon for Daniel Farke. I think he’s done a brilliant job.

“I really like him. I like how he holds himself, I love how he talks, and I like how he speaks about his team.”

Why Leeds and Farke cannot afford to get ahead of themselves

The green shoots of recovery have started appearing over the last three games for Leeds, but they must ensure that they now build on their good form.

Farke’s side have been superb against the traditional ‘big’ teams in recent weeks, but with games against Brentford, Crystal Palace and Sunderland coming up, now is the time to find some consistency.

The Whites have lifted themselves out of the Premier League relegation zone, and currently sit two points clear of 17th placed West Ham.

However, the Hammers are improving under Nuno Espirito Santo and could very easily put a run together over the coming weeks.

Leeds must continue with the same performance level that helped them to famous results against Chelsea and Liverpool in order to remain clear of West Ham and their other relegation rivals.
