Conor Clancy delivers verdict on Nahitan Nandez
Leeds United securing a move for Nahitan Nandez would be one of the “signings of the summer”, according to football journalist Conor Clancy.
Clancy is an expert on all things Serie A, having covered the league for Gazzetta World, Curva e Calcio and FAI and also appearing as a guest on The Gentleman Ultra show.
The Whites have been linked extensively with a move for Nandez this summer and a move to Elland Road had also been talked up last month by his agent Pablo Bentancurt, per LUFC Fan Zone.
Italian media outlet Corriere Dello Sport also reported that the Whites were keen on signing the player.
However, recent reports in the Yorkshire Evening Post suggest that he is not on the radar of the Yorkshire club this summer.
That said, should the Whites enter the race and sign him, it would prove to be a wonderful acquisition, according to Clancy.
Speaking to Football FanCast, he said, “If Leeds could get him, that would be one of the signings of the summer in the Premier League.
“But I do see it as increasingly unlikely that the deal will be done now.”
Worth considering
Nandez would be the ideal midfielder for Bielsa and would complement the likes of Kalvin Phillips and Mateusz Klich perfectly at the heart of our midfield.

He’s technical, athletic, has the capability to knit things from deep and also get forward to play the killer pass that splits open defences.
Having been deployed as a full-back in the past, much like Stuart Dallas, he’s a multi-dimensional player.
Not only has Nandez starred domestically for Cagliari, he’s also been a regular in the Uruguay national team, and would be a dream signing for us.
We have pulled off some big deals recently so it is not beyond us to prise him away from Italy, but it doesn’t look like we’re pursuing him that keenly this summer.
Hopefully, we sign a good central midfielder before the window ends as it’s a position that needs immediate strengthening.
