Connor Roberts Leeds United debut update emerges ahead of Bristol City showdown
Connor Roberts will not be rushed down to the southwest to make his Leeds United debut against Bristol City at Ashton Gate, according to Beren Cross.
The Leeds Live journalist reported on Thursday (1 January) that the Wales international, who is set to become the Whites’ first addition of the January window, will not make his debut against the Robins on Friday 2 February.
Roberts will also not be able to feature in Tuesday (6 February) night’s FA Cup fourth-round replay with Plymouth Argyle, as the Welshman was not registered to play for Leeds in the original draw at Elland Road.
That means that the 28-year-old will likely make his first appearance for Daniel Farke’s side in their Championship clash with Rotherham United on Saturday 10 February, in front of a packed home crowd at Elland Road.
Time to wait
Leeds United fans have finally had something to get excited about during the January transfer window, but supporters may need to temper their expectations ever so slightly as it seems unlikely that Roberts will be in action any time soon.
Whether or not the Welshman would have even been registered in time to feature at Ashton Gate on Friday remains to be seen, but Farke is unlikely to throw the 28-year-old straight into his side to face the Robins without at least one training session.

This shouldn’t be too much of a blow to Leeds’ hopes of picking up three points against Liam Manning’s side, however. With Archie Gray, Jamie Shackleton and Sam Byram all waiting in the wings, Leeds have more than enough options at their disposal.
Hopefully, the Whites will be able to maintain their winning run and then book their place in the FA Cup fifth round at Home Park before Roberts can be welcomed into the side against Rotherham.
