Connor Roberts gives Joel Piroe on-pitch rollicking after what he did in Leeds United loss

Connor Roberts was seen to be very frustrated as he demanded more of his Leeds United teammates against Blackburn Rovers, according to Leeds Live.

The website reported on Sunday (14 April) that the loanee was gesturing to his teammates to tell them where to be. Wilfried Gnonto was being told to be inside or outside and whether to underlap or overlap the Welshman.

Roberts, 28, has plenty of Championship experience having won the title with Burnley last time out. This could be integral for the Whites moving forward.

According to Beren Cross, these instructions grew in frustration as “Joel Piroe was given a rollicking” as he didn’t make himself available for a throw-in.

What impact has Connor Roberts had on Leeds United?

It will be a positive sign for Daniel Farke that a loanee with just 12 appearances for the club is already so demanding of his teammates.

He is a defender who has reached a playoff final, won the Championship and has played in two Premier League seasons. There is no doubt of his experience.

This could prove to be of great use in the run-in for Leeds as Leicester City and Ipswich Town also struggle to put points on the board in recent weeks.

In their last three games, the Whites have lost two and drawn once as they have failed to capitalise on dropped points in the title race.

The defeat to Blackburn at Elland Road was just an additional frustration which has only been building in recent weeks. Sammie Szmodics’ goal was the difference in the end.

The domination of the ball, 75 per cent possession [FotMob], was such that Roberts didn’t have much defending to do throughout.

He didn’t make a tackle but made two clearances and three recoveries so was there when needed, according to FotMob.

It has been a frustrating few weeks for Leeds but with players like Roberts demanding more from his teammates can only help.
