Confirmed: Leeds player seals loan exit ahead of 20/21 campaign
Leeds United striker Kun Temenuzhkov has joined Spanish outfit Real Union on loan ahead of the 2020/21 campaign.
The Whites confirmed the news via their official website on Wednesday.
The 20-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at CF La Nucia, and is set to head back to the continent for the new league season.
The Bulgarian youngster joined Leeds from Barcelona’s youth system in 2017, but has only made one senior appearance at Elland Road since then.
That outing came in the 2-1 FA Cup defeat to QPR last January, and equated to an 11 minute cameo.
Temenuzhkov struggled for game time in Spain this season too, and was limited to just 64 minutes in all competitions before having his loan spell cut short by the Coronavirus pandemic.
In our opinion, this is a move that makes a lot of sense.
Chances are, Temenuzhkov would have been left to languish in the reserves this season, barring some kind of transformative miracle, and for a player of his age, that can have a real stunting effect on his development.
At least by going out to La Liga 2, he should have a much better chance of gaining valuable senior minutes.
It is understood that the youngster is still highly-rated by coaches at Thorp Arch, but that he initially sought a loan move back to Europe last season for family reasons.
That would suggest that he still has a future at Elland Road if he wants one, as does the fact that club chiefs have opted for a loan deal over a permanent exit.
Here’s hoping that this can be the season that finally sees the starlet begin to realise the form that saw The Guardian tout him as one of the brightest young talents in world football back in 2017.
