Confirmed injury news: Leeds United without four players for FA Cup clash v Accrington as fresh doubts emerge

Jesse Marsch has revealed Leeds United will be without four players for their FA Cup fourth-round clash against Accrington Stanley on Saturday.

Stuart Dallas, Adam Forshaw and Archie Gray are all sidelined for the clash in Lancashire, with Crysencio Summerville also set to miss the fixture – although the Dutchman is set to return for the Whites’ next Premier League match against Nottingham Forest (The Athletic’s Phil Hay, 26 January).

The American also confirmed that summer-signing Tyler Adams and Liam Cooper are also doubts for the FA Cup fixture against John Coleman’s side.

Cup run

A cup run is certainly long overdue at Elland Road and facing League One opposition provides the Whites with an excellent chance of reaching the fifth round of the competition. It will undoubtedly be a stubborn test at Accrington, but Marsch’s men should have more than enough for their hosts.

Winning is a good habit no matter the competition and the Leeds boss must ensure he plays a relatively strong side when they travel to Lancashire on Saturday 28 January. Failure to beat John Coleman’s side would be an absolute travesty for Marsch and would raise yet more questions on whether he’s the right man to take the club forward.

For the moment, the American’s focus will be solely on the club’s transfer dealings as the board look to conclude a deal for Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie before the window slams shut on 1 February. Even if McKennie doesn’t come through the door at Elland Road, it would’ve still been an impressive window, with Georginio Rutter and Max Wober joining the club.
