It’s been a tough 2020 but the single scariest moment was the first quarter of the game against Man City. Rodrigo will be the saviour this season.

It looks like Leeds United could be set to announce another major summer transfer shortly.

Sky Sports journalist Fabrizio Romano posted an exciting update overnight, saying "Agreement to be reached soon for Josko Gvardiol to Leeds. Confirmed."

Leeds have been strongly linked with a move for Dinamo Zagreb centre-back Gvardiol in the past week.

Phil Hay said that the fee being talked about is a considerable one – €20m (£17.8m), although he did say that Gvardiol's current salary is small.

Romano added that talks are still ongoing for the transfer that every Leeds fan wants to see happen – Rodrigo De Paul.

Big fee, big talent?

At around £18m, Gvardiol isn't coming cheap for a relatively unknown 18-year-old.

That fee would have equalled Leeds' transfer record set way back in 2000 for Rio Ferdinand, had the club not already smashed it when they signed Valencia striker Rodrigo earlier this summer.

That's where Leeds have moved to now.

Given that this is a transfer that's obviously been given the green light by Marcelo Bielsa, Gvardiol has to be seen as an exciting purchase.

With Robin Koch and Liam Cooper as the expected main defensive pairing, Gvardiol will provide cover and learn from them, while being coached by Bielsa.

Gvardiol is seen as one of the shining lights of Croatian football and if he progresses as expected then Leeds could have a real player and a real bargain on their hands.

Leeds have bought a lot of Under-23s talent this summer. Gvardiol is different – he's expected to go straight into the first-team set-up and we can't wait to see him in action.
