Compensation update emerges as Leeds United keen on ex Liverpool chief Stuart Webber

Leeds United are reportedly willing to pay compensation to Norwich to hire former Liverpool transfer chief Stuart Webber.

According to LUFC Fanzone, he will become the Whites’ new sporting director and could look to bring Daniel Farke in as the new manager.

The Leeds source has proven to be a credible source of information as they reported on Mateusz Klich in January and that was confirmed by then owner Andrea Radrizzani.

Via Twitter, they wrote, “Leeds are closing in on the appointment of Stuart Webber as the club’s sporting director and are willing to pay Norwich compensation for his arrival.

“Webber could then move swiftly onto appointing Daniel Farke as Leeds head coach, someone who he appointed at Norwich and guided them to the Premier League.”

The source cites the Mirror story carried by MOT Leeds News, but adds its own information about the willingness to pay compensation to the EFL Championship side.

Gathering steam

It seems like the San Francisco 49ers’ first appointment since taking over the reins of the club is to hire the former Liverpool man.

He’s currently serving out his notice period at Carrow Road but it seems like Leeds are keen on getting him out of there as soon as possible.

If he is the man they’ve decided to go with then it does make sense as it’s a major transfer window that’s going to see a number of key first-team players’ futures in jeopardy.

What happens is anyone’s guess but there’s going to be plenty of upheaval and the squad will be as good as new for whoever the manager is.

It’s rather simplistic to assume that if it’s Webber then it will be Farke just because the duo have worked together previously.

That said, Leeds need to be sure they’re bringing in the right director and not merely going for who’s available and not too expensive.

In other Leeds United news, a BBC pundit has been left stunned as Phil Hay has dropped a fresh update on who the Whites are considering bringing in as manager this summer.
