Cody Drameh medical at Luton Town on Thursday morning as Leeds United agree loan deal
Cody Drameh will undergo a medical at Luton Town on Thursday morning after Leeds United agreed to let him leave on loan, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Sky Sports News reported (25 January) that the Hatters had agreed a deal with Leeds despite Cardiff City making a late attempt to hijack the move.
Drameh is in the final year of his contract and Romano has revealed a decision will be made in the summer when it comes to his long-term future at Elland Road.
“Cody Drameh is set to join Luton Town on loan deal. Medical now booked on Thursday morning,” wrote the Guardian journalist (25 January, Twitter).
“Decision on the long-term future of Drameh will be taken in the summer when the player enters the final year of his contract. Jesse Marsch wants him to return to Leeds next season.”
This looks like a good move from Leeds, with Drameh desperately needing more game time in the second half of the campaign. He impressed in the FA Cup fourth round against Cardiff and definitely has a future in West Yorkshire if he’s managed in the right way.
Rasmus Kristensen has been slightly underwhelming since his arrival at Elland Road, but he’s still Marsch’s go-to in the right-back role. Furthermore, Luke Ayling has been a solid option for the American to utilise when he’s been given the chance to start from the outset.
One concern is that the board are allowing Drameh’s current deal to edge closer to its conclusion by not making a decision on his long-term future now. He’s yet to sign a new contract and if the club allow his deal to head into its final 12 months, there’s a chance he will start looking for a permanent move elsewhere.
Regardless of his contract situation, it’s a positive for the 21-year-old to head out and get more first-team minutes.
