Club make decision after Leeds ready £50k/wk offer for attacker tearing league up – report

Leeds United have already made a £10m bid for Rangers attacker Ryan Kent and are set to go back with an improved £14m bid this week.

That would include a lucrative contract for Kent that would see his wages double to £50k-a-week. [Scottish Sun]

The offer would also more than double the £6.5m fee that Rangers paid for Kent last summer.

However, according to the Scottish Sun, Rangers will reject this second offer and reiterate that Kent isn’t for sale.

Kent scored his third goal of the season on Saturday after starting the new season for Rangers on fire.

He was the highest-rated player on the pitch against Kilmarnock according to WhoScored, who gave him a rare 9.0.

His average rating after five games is an impressive 7.84 and he’s the third-highest rated player in the entire Premiership.

Mixed messages coming from Rangers

Rangers can keep saying that Ryan Kent isn’t for sale but Steven Gerrard has already said there’s a price at which they would have to sell.

He said if Leeds bid that much then the decision would be taken out of his hands and Kent would be sold.

Rather than just playing games, why don’t Rangers just name that price and move things along?

Kent was superb for Rangers on Saturday in the 2-0 win against Kilmarnock.

Interestingly, he’s been given a free role this season, rather than his normal place out on the wing, and it seems to be working.

He scored the second goal on Saturday and popped up in the middle and on the flanks as he ran the game from behind Kemar Roofe.

The Daily Record had him down as man-of-the-match on Saturday and if he is interested in a move to Leeds then he’s doing all he can to keep their interest.

Given his new role and form, we’re starting to turn onto the prospect of Kent joining, but we can’t see Leeds going much over the £15m mark.
