Chris Wilder makes new Leeds United admission after what he saw

Chris Wilder believes Leeds United are “miles ahead” of Sheffield United despite sitting top of the Championship by one point.

The Whites moved to second in the table thanks to their 2-0 victory over Derby County on 7 December and cut down the gap between themselves and their Yorkshire rivals.

Daniel Farke’s men were in impressive form against the Rams at Elland Road and the German will no doubt be looking to carry on their winning ways against Middlesbrough on 10 December.

Speaking after the 2-2 draw against West Brom on 8 December, via the Daily Mail sports pages (9 December, page 10), Wilder couldn’t help but name Leeds again.

“Leeds are miles ahead of us,” he said. “We have our own fight to improve individually and as a team and along the way keep picking up points.

“I’m not focused on anyone apart from us.”

Leeds United need to get back to the top of the Championship table

The Whites have been in decent form recently with four of their last five second-tier games ending in a win for the West Yorkshire outfit.

While their form has been impressive, it still feels like more can come from the team, especially when the money from the summer is taken into account.

Indeed, they did make a decent chunk of money thanks to the sales of players such as Archie Gray and Crysencio Summerville but even when that’s taken into account, Farke was still backed.

If Leeds don’t end the season in at least the top two, it’s hard to see how Paraag Marathe would keep the German in his role.

Since the start of the term, Leeds have been the favourites to come away with the title and anything short of that would likely be deemed a failure by most, if not all fans.

In other Leeds news, the Whites may have found their saviour after what a “dangerous” ace did against Derby.
